The contract for the rehabilitation and expansion of the Bucharest National Theatre (TNB), worth around 50m euros, was won by the consortium made up of Aedificia Carpaţi, a company controlled by businessman Petre Badea, and Romtest Electronic, owned by businessman Ion Tudoran, according to a contract award notice published on the Electronic System For Public Procurement (SEAP).

"On SEAP, the award notice was published in due time, as the contract was signed a month ago. Works have already begun in March and are due to be completed in 28 months (in June 2013 i.e.). In the first two or three months, works will centre on taking down the façade of the theatre's Big Hall and strengthening section B, between the Big Hall and the Operetta Theatre," Bogdan Trâmbaciu, head of the Project Management Unit, the institution in charge with organising investment tenders within the Culture Ministry.
