How Wrigley's distributor "army" covers 85,000 points of sale
Mihai Georgescu, the manager who has been running
Wrigley Romania for almost 20 years and who has lived the
experience of doing business on a market of over 20 million
consumers right after the Revolution, but also during the
consumption boom and crisis periods, says Romanians' lack of
confidence is hindering economic rebound.
The producer of Orbit chewing gum, which has brought around 80
products in Romania, feels the pulse of domestic retail the best by
being present in 85,000 stores, namely the entire sale universe,
from bookstores, to travel agencies.
Georgescu says he expects things to improve economically toward the
end of this year.
At present, Wrigley sells the around 80 products in around 85,000
stores domestically. To reach the urban and rural areas, and to
reach each newly opened store, the US company works with 150
Wrigley representatives nationwide and with sales agent teams from
distribution companies.
"We say we're covering the entire market. Wrigley products can be
present in the places where money changes hands, for a part of the
money to go toward our products", Georgescu says.
