Tuborg shareholders bring 46 year-old Israeli to replace Shachar Shaine
United Romanian Breweries Bereprod (URBB), producer of Tuborg
and Carlsberg beers, has appointed Hezy Ovadia to the helm of the
business, who has in the past six years been CEO of mineral waters
producer Neviot, a company listed on the Tel Aviv stock exchange,
with 68 million euros in turnover last year, a member of the CBC
group (Central Bottling Company).
CBC is Carlsberg's partner in Israel and Romania, according to
information on the Carlsberg website. The CBC group also includes
companies such as Prigat Israel and Coca-Cola Israel. According to
data from the Trade Registry, URBB's sole shareholder is
International Breweries, registered in the Netherlands.
"I am sure we will continue to post growth on an annual basis,"
said Hezy Ovadia, 46, who has 19 years' experience in the FMCG
industry and has since the very beginning attended the meetings of
the Tuborg and Carlsberg bottler in Romania, without being a
member, though. URBB representatives did not specify clearly what
Hezy Ovadia's position in the company was.
Ovadia will take over as CEO from the current executive Shachar
Shaine, who has filled this position since 2004.
Shaine brought the company to an over 100 million-euro turnover and
boosted the number of employees to over 800, according to URBB
information, with the producer's turnover amounting to 48.4 million
euros in 2004, while the number of employees was 254. Under
Shaine's term, the company tapped into the soft drinks and mineral
water market. URBB representatives did not specify what Shaine's
future position would be.
