First Gucci store in Romania set to open in December
The first Gucci store on the Romanian market will be opened in mid-December inside Athenee Palace Hilton five-star hotel owned by businessman George Copos, in the wake of a 2m-euro investment carried out by Italy's Sodo Migliori company, which operates Cellini and Swarovski stores.
"We're preparing the Gucci store for opening, which we are
fitting out and for which ten employees will work," stated
Alessandro Amato, the shareholder in Sodo Migliori, who added he
could not disclose information about the business targets for the
first operational year of the store.
Sodo Migliori Romania ended last year with 20.9m-euro turnover and
profit worth around 317,000 euros, according to Trade Registry
data. In 2008, Alessandro Amato also brought Paul&Shark Italian
footwear and apparel brand on the Romanian market.
According to a survey Nielsen Global Research carried out two years
ago, Gucci, to be present in Romania through a 250-sqm store in the
former space of the famous brasserie of Hilton, is the most wanted
luxury brand in the world.
