Hornbach set to open store on former Prisma site by yearend
Germany's DIY store network Hornbach wants to open the store in the former location of Prisma shopping complex, located several kilometres away from Bucharest, by the end of the year, according to the information included in the company's half-year financial report.
This is the retailer's only expansion project domestically in
2010 and may represent its biggest investment in a new space,
taking into account Hornbach paid 20m euros in 2007 for the plot of
land Prisma was located on. The network's total investments in the
location can be put at around 40m euros.
The store, whose construction started at the beginning of the year,
has already been raised, but the company has not announced yet
whether it managed to attract another retailer in the location, as
it had planed ever since it bought the 15-hectare plot.
Hornbach currently owns three stores domestically, two of them
located in Bucharest. The retailer entered Romania in 2007 and
currently operates the biggest building materials, décor and
gardening stores on the market, with average areas of 24,000 square
metres.
