Up to 90% of New Year's Eve packages already booked
Although the New Year's holiday is even in a time of crisis
twice as expensive as a regular holiday, Romanian tourists have
booked their winter holidays in advance, with 90% of the rooms
having already been reserved for the New Year's Eve holiday in some
of the villas and hotels in mountain resorts.
"We don't offer any discounts for early bookings. Our clients book
their Christmas or New Year's Eve package a year in advance, these
are loyal clients. At present 90% of our rooms are booked for the
winter holiday," said a representative of the Cheile Grădiştei
complex in Moeciu resort, which can accommodate 280 in seven villas
and two hotels.
The complex held by businessman Ovidiu Gârbacea posted a nearly 2.5
million-euro turnover last year, according to results on the
website of the Finance Ministry, which comprise figures from three
companies: Cheile Grădiştei, Cheile Grădiştei Turism, and Cheile
Grădiştei Sport.
The price of accommodation for three nights starts from 200 euros,
according to complex officials.
In order to attract tourists in the winter holiday period, most
accommodation facilities offer discounts if you book a few months
in advance, until mid-October.
"Tourists who book and pay the Christmas or New Year's Eve package
by October 15th receive an up to 15% discount on their stay(...),"
said an official of Poiana and Bradul hotels controlled by
businessman George Copos in Poiana Braşov resort.
