Young people find secret of business in rural areas: beekeeping or flower plantations
More than 2,700 farmers under 40 have already received as much
as 25,000 euros from the EU for the creation of new agricultural
businesses. Of them, almost one quarter have chosen to invest in
apiculture.
The move through which young farmers get a maximum of 25,000 euros,
depending of the submitted projects, was launched in 2008 to make
young people return to villages, but a ZF survey reveals that only
three out of ten have started a business from scratch in
agriculture, while the rest, entrepreneurs already having
agricultural businesses in rural areas, have preferred to expand
their business or modernise it.
Almost 600 projects have been submitted for agriculture, with the
rest of funds raised for horticulture, livestock raising,
agricultural land or equipment acquisitions, as well as for rose or
exotic plant cultures.
Starting September, APDRP (Payment Agency for Rural Development and
Fishing) launches the fourth session of project submission, with
the total earmarked sum starting at 61.4m euros.
