Only 80 MW of the 1,500 MW of wind power announced by Iberdrola to become operational in 2011
Iberdrola energy group, one of the world's biggest players on
the market of wind energy projects, will launch an 80 MW wind farm
next year in Mihai Viteazu locality of Constanţa county, with this
being as a matter of fact the only investment which has its network
connection contract signed of the 1,500 MW the Spanish company
plans for Romania.
Taking into account the farm's capacity, the investment of Mihai
Viteazu is likely to get to 120-140m euros.
Like many other investors that chose to start wind energy projects
in Romania, Iberdrola also works with a developer, called Eolica
Dobrogea, together with which it has announced plans for the
construction of 50 farms, in Dobrogea, with a cumulated capacity of
1,500 MW, almost equalling that of two reactors of Cernavodă
nuclear power station.
However, according to Transelectrica data, of the 1,500 MW set to
be installed in the 2011-2017 period, only 80 MW, namely the wind
farm of Mihai Viteazu, have a signed network connection
contract.
