Romania must be able to report it effectively started to put into practice the austerity measure package so that the additional letter of intent should come to be discussed during IMF board's 28th of June session, states Mihai Tanasescu, Romania's representative with the IMF. He says that at this moment the 28th of June date for the IMF board's discussion on the situation of the agreement with Romania is "tentative". "Let us see what happens during the following months. Yet, once Government's responsibility assuming in Parliament has been scheduled for 7 June, I am confident we'll be included in the board's discussions on the 28th, and the next tranche of the loan will be disbursed and reach NBR's foreign currency reserve". Tanasescu specifies that if the austerity measure package is challenged in the Constitutional Court, the IMF will wait for a legality notice from the part of lawyers. The official also says the Fund is already concerned that euro zone jitters should not spread to other European countries.
