Family of entrepreneurs in Timisoara plans strong expansion in furniture retail
The Rusu family, which controls furniture manufacturer Rus
Savitar based in Timisoara, with 20 million euros in turnover,
plans to open five stores this year, in the wake of an investment
put at over one million euros, after the owners entered furniture
retail market as late as last year.
The shareholders - spouses Dorica and Iordache Rusu (who each own
40% of the shares) and sons Cristian and Raimond Rusu (10% each)
are examining the possibility of making the first move outside
Romania by opening the first store in Budapest.
The retail division operates under the Casa Rusu brand, which will
also be used for the Budapest store.
"We are targeting big cities, such as Targu Mures, and Constanta,
and are planning to return to Bucharest afterwards. It takes two or
three months before we reach consensus (with the developers i.e.).
Outside Romania, the first store could be in Budapest, in November
this year," said Cristian Rusu, general manager of Casa Rusu. He
added there were no concrete locations for the time being.
Rus Savitar expects a turnover worth 22 million euros for this
year, up 10% on 2009, which places the company in the top ten of
furniture players.
