Frumusani, Popesti or Cernica fail to persuade young people to move outside Bucharest
"Are you interested in buying a home?' is the question asked by
a young man to the few Bucharest inhabitants who visited the real
estate fair at Palatul Copiilor (Children's Palace) on Sunday - a
rainy day.
Young women dispensing fliers, around 40 exhibitors, but offers
mainly targeting the outskirts of the city and outside Bucharest -
this is what Bucharest inhabitants found there, so few visitors
were satisfied upon leaving the fair.
The new offers promoted by developers target the Frumusani,
Cernica, Popesti-Leordeni, Bragadiru and Mogosoaia areas, which do
not seem to be attractive to young people, but only to older
people, who wish to leave behind the hustle and bustle of the
city.
"Things are the same as they were two months ago. All affordable
offers are for homes outside Bucharest. We will eventually go for
an old apartment, in an area with easy access to the tube, a park
and supermarkets. We have been looking for a home for two or three
months, having had our loan approved via the 'First Home' scheme,"
says Raluca Constantinescu, 23, who works in the travel industry.
