Next year could see first big energy investments. 2010 is for strategies

The energy market has become one of the most effervescent economic sectors this year, at least in terms of the large number of projects that Romania is involved in. However, experts say a big part of these projects will remain only on paper in 2010, as well, with next year to be considered one of concrete investments.

"Now we are in the race of revising our energy strategy and seeking to put together a document that will not be changed every four years. Our aim is to restructure the energy sector via private capital," said Adriean Videanu, Economy Minister at the opening of the conference "Can Romania Become an Energy Hub for South-Eastern Europe? 2010 - The Year of Major Energy Investments," organised by Ziarul Financiar in partnership with Enel, Rompetrol, Peli Filip, CEZ, and KDF Energy.

"2011 is the year when we will truly see big projects. The groundwork will be laid this year," said Mihai David, general manager of Hidroelectrica, a company that will be divided and absorbed by the two energy giants the state intends to use as a means to restructure energy generation, which will start operating in early July.
