US group Emerson, with 21bn dollar turnover, has hired 100
people from the start of the year in its Cluj-Napoca plants and is
recruiting further, inclusively foremen and managers, so that
around 400 people may be hired in Cluj this year. "Around 500
people work in Emerson park in Cluj-Napoca and each month we're
posting between 30-40 job ads on recruitment websites. We're
seeking people irrespective of skills, who should handle the
activities we carry out. By May we'll bring another arm in Cluj,
which will operate in the third facility we built in Tetarom park
last year," stated Calin Banciu, general manager of Emerson
Romania. According to the latest data available, Emerson in 2008
posted turnover worth 31.3m RON (around 8.5m euros), with the
company's average number of employees standing at 238 people.
Emerson, with 3 production centres in Cluj-Napoca at present and an
engineering centre, is one of the biggest employers of Cluj this
year, besides Genpact, ING or Nokia. The positive signals issued by
the companies conducting extensive recruitment campaigns in Cluj
come as the unemployment rate in February reached a peak of 8.3% at
a national level.
