The Adamescu family, owner of Unirea Shopping Center in
Brasov, is negotiating a contract with Spanish clothing retailer
Inditex to bring Zara store to Brasov a year after the brand opened
an around 5,000 square-metre store in the Unirea store in
Bucharest. "Negotiations are at an advanced stage. The contract
will be signed in the first quarter of the year, with the official
opening of the 1,500 square-metre store being scheduled for the
second quarter of 2010," Carmen Palade Adamescu, chairman of the
Board of Directors of Unirea Shopping Center, told ZF. Considering
an average monthly rent of 10-15 euros per square metre, the annual
contract could be worth 180,000 to 240,000 euros, according to ZF
calculations. Inditex representatives did not provide details on
the talks with Unirea Brasov, but did not deny their next expansion
move, either.
"Brasov, alongside Sibiu, Oradea, and Arad, is an
interesting city in terms of our brand's development. We are
currently in negotiations with all of these cities," says Mihai
Cioltea, expansion manager of Inditex's local subsidiary.
