Ziarul Financiar 19.10.2009

Businessman Stefan Vuza made around 54 million euros (234 million RON) from the appreciation of the shares he holds in six companies listed on the Stock Exchange, which are all part of the Serviciile Comerciale Romane (SCR) group he controls. Vuza, one of Romania's biggest industrialists, holds 84.12% of chemical plant Chimcomplex Borzesti (CHOB) through A2 Impex in Ploiesti. Despite the fact that the plant slipped into the red halfway through this year, its value rose over 10 times on the Stock Exchange, to 65.5 million euros (280.6 million RON). This compares with a 55% rise for the Bucharest Stock Exchange's main index, BET. However, the share appreciation was done amid low transactions. The chemical plant saw a 50% turnover decline in the first six months of the year, to 10.5 million euros (44 million RON) and stepped into the red, with 2.8 million euros (12.2 million RON). Another company controlled by Stefan Vuza, which posted a significant increase this year is Uzuc Ploiesti (UZC), specialising in technology equipment, which the businessman wants to delist from the Stock Exchange this year.
