Radu Rasinaru will take the reins of the Romanian division of pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, after filling a similar position with rival Eli Lilly. "I will start in August," said Radu Rasinar. AstraZeneca has been the fastest growing pharmaceutical company on the Romanian market over the last few years, seeing its turnover rise from 78.9 million RON (22.4 million euros) in 2006 to 180.2 million RON (49 million euros) in 2008, according to data from market research company Cegedim Romania. In the ranking of leading players in the industry, the company rose from No. 20 in 2006 to No. 10 at the end of last year. AstraZeneca's rise on the Romanian market has been an organic one, with its main segments being gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, oncology drugs, as well as drugs used in the treatment of psychiatric, respiratory diseases and antiinfective drugs. Rasinar replaces Nenad Pavletic, who had taken over as country manager of AstraZeneca Romania in January 2007.
