Major, UniCredit Tiriac: We sold 140 consumer loans per day in July

UniCredit Tiriac sold 140 consumer loans on average per day since the beginning of July, 50% more than in previous months, in the context where the bank also started a promotional campaign for these products. "Before the campaign, we saw a 50% decline in the number of loans sold. In terms of volume, the decline was even steeper because the amounts borrowed by clients are lower. Consumers are looking more carefully at their ability to repay a loan. Last year was a completely different story. But we are seeing rises in July against May and June," says Zoltan Major, executive vice-president of UniCredit Tiriac Bank, in charge of the retail division. Unsecured consumer loans are processed and registered in the balance sheet of UniCredit Consumer Financing IFN (UCFin), a consumer finance company in which the bank owns a 35% stake. The company uses the expertise accumulated by the UniCredit group in mass retail on foreign markets, which enables a much faster processing of loan applications.
