Car alarm market down by 30%, to 4m euros

Falcon Electronics, one of the leading players on the Romanian car accessories market, with 14 million euros in turnover in 2008, expects an over 30% drop of the alarm market this year, amid a declining car market. "The market of car security systems saw a 30% decline in the first five months of the year. Falcon sold 1,200 security systems per month on average in the first five months of the year," said Cristian Filip, marketing manager of Falcon Electronics. The entire market saw 3,000 units sold on average per month, according to company data. In the first four months of the year, new car sales saw a 50% decline against the similar period of last year, to 44.558 units.
