The leading wine makers on the Romanian market, with turnover worth 180 million euros, operate a vineyard area worth at least 300 million euros, according to an analysis made by ZF. "The price at which a hectare of land suitable for grapevine growing is sold can range from 3,000 to 10,000 euros. Around 20,000-25,000 euros more are needed for building a crop, but one needs to also plant new, noble varieties, in order to have a competitive crop," said Rares Marinescu, manager within Cramele Recas Group. Therefore, the average price of a hectare of vineyard considered by ZF is of 25,000 euros, but the price fluctuates depending on the area where the crop is located and on the investments going into the land. On the Romanian market, the companies with the largest cultivated areas are Murfatlar, Vincon, Jidvei and Vinia Iasi.
