MOL Romania, the local branch of Hungarian petroleum group MOL, says its sales of non-oil products went up by up to 50% in December compared with November 2008, and is expecting a slight increase on the non-oil segment in the last month of 2008 compared with the same time in 2007. "Our chocolate sales went up by over 30%, toy sales rose by over 50%, while sales of holiday decorations went up more than 50% in December against November last year," said MOL Romania representatives, but did not indicate the value of sales recorded exclusively on the non-oil segment. At present, non-oil products account for around 15% of the company's overall turnover. MOL Romania posted over 530 million euros in turnover in 2007. "It is difficult to make estimates for December, but we expect a slight rise in the turnover generated by non-oil products against the previous year," company representatives added. According to the quoted sources, the best-selling products are road tax stickers, cigarettes and soft drinks.
