Holcim: Crisis slows down market growth in Q4

Ziarul Financiar 20.11.2008

Holcim Romania, the local subsidiary of Swiss group Holcim, expects a decline in sales in the fourth quarter, during winter and due to the financial crisis, after it posted a 19.8% growth in terms of volume in the first nine months of the year, above the beginning-of-the-year estimates. Additionally, the company has raised prices by 12% since the beginning of the year, which will lead to an over 30% turnover increase in terms of value. "The increase in the volume of cement sold by Holcim in the first nine months stood at 19.8%, but it will definitely go down by the end of the year, for two reasons: winter conditions and the crisis, which will have an impact on the Romanian market," said Markus Wirth, general manager of Holcim Romania.
