Wienerberger: Brick market slows down

The brick market advanced by 15% in the first half of the year; a slower rate than in the first three months when sales rose by 20% due to the shrinking volume of housing projects, according to Wienerberger, the biggest player on the market. Should the 15% growth rate continue at the level of the entire year, the brick market will reach a value of around 210-230m euros. "(...) We hit our targeted growth in H1, but we cannot anticipate what will happen by yearend," Daniel Catanas, general manager of Wienerberger Sisteme de Caramizi, told ZF. He chose not to specify the rate at which the company's sales advanced in H1. In fact, sales in Romania, Russia and Bulgaria were the main growth drivers for the Austrian group, the world's biggest brick producer.
