Polaris, American producer of all terrain vehicles will invest 50m euros in the construction of an ATV manufacturing plant in Giurgiu that will have a capacity of 60,000 units per year and a staff of 500, according to Polaris representatives. "The difference in European legislation, which allows these vehicles to be driven on public roads, unlike in the USA, has led to booming sales in ATVs in Europe over the past eight years. This was the reason why Polaris decided to build a plant in Romania," stated Bogdan Gheorghiu, Polaris regional manager for Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova. Gheorghiu said that Romania was selected because it is a EU member and has a better infrastructure than Bulgaria. Polaris has already started looking for the future location in Giurgiu, with construction works due to start during the middle of next year.
