Hotels in the Capital are estimating a 100% occupancy rate when the Bucharest Ring race takes place from May 18th to May 20th. Organisers expect the race to attract around 14,000 spectators from outside Bucharest, among whom 1,000 will be foreigners. Considering a hotel guest's average budget of 700 euros per trip including accommodation and spending, the sum being brought to Bucharest will total around 700,000 euros. "Reservations for the official delegation were made over 8 months ago accounting for 50 rooms. Other than these reservations, there are also regular spectators who have rented a room at the Marriott hotel," says Dina Litzica, PR & Marketing Manager at one of the luxury hotels in the Capital, the JW Marriott Grand Hotel, which has the advantage of being located close to the race circuit. Buc harest has around 7,000 hotel rooms to offer visitors. The figure includes all types of accommodation, from one-star hotels to five-star hotels, motels, boutique hotels and extended stay hotels. However, hotel operators have said from the start that they believe there is an insufficient amount of accommodation available. "In the case of this event, we must exclude from the figure (i.e.7, 000 rooms) hotels that do not meet the minimum standards required, as well as one-star hotels that have not been renovated in years, along with motels with bad reputations. That leaves us with around 5,300 available rooms," says Paul Marasoiu, general manager and CEO of the hotel consulting company Peacock Hotels.
