Romania, Danone''s regional hub

Ziarul Financiar 31.10.2005
Danone Romania, which is part of the French foods group Danone, an over 13bn euro business a year, has announced plans to put Romania at the core of its regional market development. The Romanian branch of the French giant has just begun exporting fresh dairy products to Serbia and Croatia and completed a 1.5 million euro investment in the construction of a wastewater treatment station, to comply with the European Union norms. "The current investments stand proof to the group"s confidence in the development of the region. We want to organise the business as a regional market. The great advantage of such a market is that you are not forced to make all the products locally and can expand your offer with products from outside the parent market," Jacques Ponty, Danone Romania"s general manager stated. Dan one Romania posted 48 million euro turnover last year, an increase of 40% on 2003. ZF
