Romania, Huawei''s regional hub

Huawei, the Chinese producer of communications equipment and solutions posted revenues worth "several million dollars" in the first quarter of the year in Romania and Moldova, half the turnover posted in the whole of last year, Cristian Ceapa, marketing manager of Huawei Romania told ZF. In Romania, the company intends to focus primarily on the 3G market this year, given that the authorities will put up for auction two new licences for mobile telephony operators. The fact that telecom operators are expanding their networks (RomTelecom, which announced that it would invest in a "next generation" network," as well as other telecom operators) is also an opportunity for Huawei. Company officials announced that Romania would become a regional operational centre, from which certain operations will be conducted (logistical and administrative operations) for countries in the Central and Eastern Europe. "It will be an internal platform of the company," explained Ceapa. The hub coordinating Huawei''s European business is located in London. Romania was considered to be an appropriate location for an operational centre due to reasons given a lot lately by multinational companies: low costs, high quality of human resources, and the language skills of the personnel.
