Eximbank posts lower profit

The Export-Import Bank of Romania (Eximbank) will post gross profit worth 135bn ROL this year, down from the results logged in 2002. However, the bank's management says the decline was assumed when interests took a downturn trend. A gross profit of 200bn ROL is estimated for next year. "We will close this year with a profit lower than in 2002. In our opinion, it is more important that we have managed to support more exports with smaller budget expenses than in 2002," Eximbank president Mariana Diaconescu said. Total exports supported in 2003 by Eximbank slightly exceeded $2bn. ZF
